When I enter the studio, I try to create a world filled with beauty, mystery, humor, contemplation and adornment.
I came to the art world by way of the beauty industry. As a hairdresser and make-up artist, I spent seventeen years working with design, balance, color, texture and the constant challenge of communicating my ideas with others. I still seek beauty and communication through my art.
My specialty is computer digitized machine embroidery. This technique involves the designing of motifs on the computer and then sending the data to the sewing machine to be sewn out using a special computerized embroidery unit.
The reflection of the thread as it skims the surface of the fabric produces a glassy surface texture and creates a moving experience for the viewer. The magnificent assortment of available thread colors adds to the unique beauty of this medium.
